Scorer calls for 'no fear' as new-look Ards begin Premier Division campaign
There is a completely fresh look to Cornard United this season, following a busy summer of comings and goings at Blackhouse Lane, both on and off the pitch.
Leading the team is Cameron Scorer, who has taken on the manager's job after a successful spell in charge of Halstead Town Under-23s. While he is not setting any targets, Scorer is keen for his newly-assembled squad to show 'no fear' in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division.
"We can forget about last season because the set-up is completely new," Scorer said. "Even the committee, that is new, as is the squad, and obviously myself coming in as well.
"I've been really happy with how pre-season has gone, and you can see with each game and each session that things are starting to gel nicely. It will take some time for it to click completely, but the early signs are positive.
"We won't be setting any big targets, I don't like doing that, because if you say you want to just stay up or finish mid-table, then that's also saying it's acceptable to lose games.
"Of course, you're never going to win every week, but we want to go into each game full of belief and showing no fear.
"It's a young group with a mix of good experience, and we're confident that we can grow and grow."
The Ards start the new Premier Division season on Saturday at home against Downham Town (3pm), before heading to Brantham Athletic on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
