Club Statement: Dave Hennessey

Cornard United can confirm that Director of Football Dave Hennessey will be leaving the club after accepting an opportunity to become General Manager of a Step 3 club.
Although Dave's time at Blackhouse Lane has been relatively short, his impact has been significant. Since joining the Ards in June, he has played an important role in helping to shape our new-look first-team squad, while working closely with the management team and committee to put in place the foundations for the next chapter at Cornard United.
Dave said:
"This has been an incredibly difficult decision because I've really enjoyed my time at Cornard. I want to make clear that my decision is absolutely no reflection on the club, the committee, the management team or the players.
"There are a lot of good things happening at Cornard and I've really enjoyed being part of what is being built here. I've particularly enjoyed working closely with Cameron and the wider management team, and I have every confidence in them and what they are building. They have my full support and I'm looking forward to seeing the club continue to move forward.
"However, the opportunity to become General Manager at a Step 3 club is a significant one for me and, ultimately, I felt it was too good an opportunity to turn down. Opportunities like this don't come around very often.
"I'm grateful to everyone at Cornard for the opportunity and the way I've been welcomed, and I genuinely wish the club every success moving forward."
First-Team Manager Cameron Scorer added:
"Naturally, I'm disappointed to lose Dave because I brought him into the club for a reason and, even in a short period of time, he's had a big impact.
"At the same time, I completely understand his decision. This is a big opportunity for Dave and one that I'm fully supportive of him taking.
"He's played an important part in helping us mould the squad and establish some of the foundations for where we want to take the club. I'd personally like to thank him for everything he's contributed during his time with us.
"From our perspective, nothing changes in terms of the direction we're heading. There is a lot of positivity around the club, we believe strongly in the group we're building and the plans we have in place, and we'll continue moving forward with those."
Everyone at Cornard United would like to thank Dave for his contribution to the club and wish him every success in his new role.
The first team are in action Tuesday night as they head to Downham Town for the FA Cup replay - 7:45pm KO.
